RARE 48 STAR AMERICAN ALLIED LIBERATION FLAG, WWII 1944 ca.

WWII Allied France Liberation Flag from Vannes France on the northwest coast of Brittany. It is a celebratory piece of history likely made by a French civilian who conceivably used it to wave to the American Troops as they welcomed them into the region following Frances’s liberation from German Nazis in 1944.

48 Stars on the American flag represent the state of Arizona, entered into the Union in 1912 and generally used until 1959 when Alaska became the 49th State to join the Union. This enchanting homemade flag conjures up visions of one of the most historical victory celebrations in War II.

Description/Condition

Flag is machine sewn with painted stars on a two piece machine sewn cornflower blue canton. Condition is very good for it’s period and use.
