Rare Louis Armstrong Original Concert Poster, 1958

Louis Armstrong and his “All Stars” Poster printed on card stock advertising Greek Week Concert for a show on Friday, March 29 in Hill Auditorium Ann Arbor Michigan.
        
Louis Daniel Armstrong, nicknamed “Satchmo”, “Satch” and “Pops” was an American trumpeter, composer, vocalist and actor and said to be among the most influential figures in the history of jazz with a career that spanned five decades from the 1920’s to the 1960’s.

The poster printed by Murray Poster Printing Co., NYC featured six blank diamonds allowing for photographs of different members of Armstrong’s Band to be inserted for specific shows as the line-up often changed from venue to venue.

Poster size: 14 1/8 ”x 22”
Frame size:  17 ¼” x 25 3/8”

The main field of the poster is in excellent condition; one soft wrinkle on orange field right side center, soft wrinkle on the center of the right side border; edges of border show period wear; top of poster has center hole and two small pinholes on either side likely used to display the poster.

Provenance:
This poster was among an auction lot from a private collection out of Massachusetts that contained a number of various genres from the same time period.
